General Appearance
Cleome chrysantha Decne., it is a shrubby, up to 60 cm tall. woody below, branched with usually long whitish hairs on stems and glandular pubescent on leaves etc. Leaves simple, ovate, 6-15 x 3-10 mm on almost equally long petioles. Flowers solitary axillary, c. 1 cm, across, yellow. Petals slightly exceeding the sepals. Stamens 6-10 (-I4), slightly shorter than petals; anthers oblong, c. as long or slightly shorter as the filament. Capsules c 10 x 2.5 mm, elliptic, compressed on about equally long or longer, characteristically circular deflexed pedicels, many seeded; gynophore absent; seeds c. 1 mm in diameter, glabrous, brownish, with reticulated surface.
