General Appearance

Cleome brachycarpa Vahl ex DC. it is a perennial, often with a woody base, usually glandular-pubescent. Leaves (1-) 3-5-folioalte, petiolate to sub sessile; leaflets oblong-obovate to linear-lanceolate, 5-20 x 2-5 (-8) mm; petiole up to 3-5 mm long. Racemes lax. bracteate. Flowers 6-8 mm, across, yellow; pedicels 10-15 mm long, filiform, spreading or ascending smooth. Stamens 6, shorter than petals. Capsules 5-10 x 2-3 mm, oblong. very glandular, many seeded; gynophore inconspicuous. Seeds 0.5-0.8 mm in diameter, finely ruguluse, glabrous, maroon-brown.

Notes

Wild plant. I have not yet found a recent record of this species in Libya, a rare species, growing on stony sandy mounds of Tibesti area, a nauseating smelling plant sometimes grazed by sheep and goats.
