General Appearance
Nonea vivianii DC., it is a hispid, prostrate to erect annual herb with one to several stems, densely covered with patent tubercle-based hairs. Lower leaves oblong-elliptic. Upper leaves lanceolate, sessile, 20-50 (-60) x 5-7 (10) mm. Spikes sub-recurved, lax, somewhat elongated in fruit. Pedicel 1-2 mm long. Bracts foliaceous, somewhat lanceolate, longer than the flowers. Calyx 8 mm long, divided up to two-third of the tube, lobes linear-lanceolate, covered with long patent hairs, ventricose in the fruit. Corolla longer than the calyx, limb deeply violet, 5-lobed, lobes ovate-rounded, with 5 small scales in the throat, pilose outside. Stamens included, anthers linear, versatile, c. 1 mm long. Style exserted, stigma thick. Nutles dorsally convex, keeled, sub rounded, glabrous, 3×2 mm, with a strongly ribbed collar at the base.
