General Appearance

Legousia hybrida (L.) Delarbre, it is an annual herb, sub erect to erect, up to 30 cm tall, ± hispid with branches from the base. Leaves alternate, shortly petioled to sessile, oblong-ovate to oblong-ovate, shortly attenuate, obtuse at the apex, margins crenate to undulate-crenate, obtuse. Inflorescence a small, few-flowered, terminal corymbose cluster. Flowers sessile, reddish-purple to lilac. Calyx tube mostly c. 10 mm long, lobes linear-lanceolate, c. half as long as the ovary at anthesis. erect or sub erect, acute or obtuse. Corolla tube almost half as long as calyx tube and lobes or slightly longer. Capsule 15-30 mm long, sub cylindrical, constricted at the apex, with ± erect calyx lobes.
