General Appearance
Campanula bordesiana Maire , it is a perennial, up to 60 cm tall, stiff patent hairy herb. Stem branched from the base, branches rosetted, ascending, with patent, c. 1.5 mm long stiff hairs. Leaves radical and cauline. Basal leaves rosetted. Cauline leaves, alternate obovate-oblong to lanceolate, up to 36 x 10 mm, hispid, attenuate-sessile at the base, inconspicuouously crenate or dentate, obtuse. Flowers large, lilac-violet, in monochasial cymes, each opposite the leaves on long, erect later deflexed hispid penduncles. Calyx tube obconical-campanulate, c. 3-4 mm long, glabrous, lobes narrowly triangular to linear-lanceolate, 7-8 mm long, stiffly ciliate on margins, erect, acute, with ovate-lanceolate calycine appendages. Corolla campanulate, c. 10 mm long, slightly exceeding the calyx lobes or sub equal, lobed nearly up to middle, sparsely appressed pubescent, lobes broadly triangular-ovate, erect, acute. Stamens 5-6 mm long, dilated at the base, slightly ciliate, anthers c. 4.5 mm long, yellow. Ovary 5-loeuled, with glabrous style and 5-lobed stigma. Capsule laterally 5-valved.
