General Appearance
Lappula spinocarpos (Forssk.) Asch. ex Kuntze / Homotypic Synonyms: Echinospermum spinocarpos (Forssk.) Boiss. // Infraspecifics: Lappula spinocarpos ssp. spinocarpos, it is a densely appressed grey hairy, annual herb, up to 5-15 (-25) cm with decumbent or erect branches, hairs tuberculate at bases. Leaves 15-30 (-35) x 1-3 mm, lincar, obtuse. Inflorescence lax with white or blue and c. 1 mm long pedicelled flowers. Calyx lobes linear to narrowly ovate, 3-4 (-5) mm long at anthcsis and up to 8 mm long in fruit. Corolla infundibuliform, most equalling the calyx, limb more or less campanulate, 2-) mm in diameter, scales short, ± rounded. Stamens inserted below the middle of corolla tube c. 1 mm long, anthers; ovate, rarely oblong. Nutlets 3-5 x 2 mm, ovoid-trigonous, aculeate, spines unequal, verruculose or tuberculate or shortly spinose between the spines.
