General Appearance

Johnstonella pusilla (Torr. & A.Gray) Hasenstab & M.G.Simpson / Homotypic Synonyms: Cryptantha pusilla (Torr. & A.Gray) Greene,  Eritrichium pusillum Torr. & A.Gray,  it is a densely branched annual herb, up to 45 cm tall with adpressed white hairs. Leaves linear, 10-20 (-30) x 1-1.5 (-2) mm, entire, acute-obtuse, sessile. Calyx 5-partite, lobes linear, c. 4 mm long, increasing up to 8 mm in fruit, densely hairy all over. Corolla mostly pale yellow, rarely white, tube 2-3 mm long, scales ± oval, lobes rotate, c. 0.5 mm broad. Stamens inserted below the middle of corolla tube, c. 1 mm long; anthers ovate with filiform filaments. Stigma shallowly bilobed; style less than 1 mm long. Nutlets brown glossy, tuberculate, ovate, somewhat rostrate at the apex, 1.25-1.5 x 1 mm with a thickened rim on the side of the attachment with the receptacle.

Al-Jufra area:  (98 km) from Hun to Sebha, Wadi Soda, (15,20 km) from Weshka to Hun 1973

 

Notes

Introduced in Libya,????  in sandy soil, with loamy top.
