General Appearance

Heliotropium supinum L., it is a decumbent annual herb with whitish to yellowish pubescence. Leaves opposite or alternate, elliptic, oval or suborbicular with rounded or cuneate base, ± crenate, (5-) 10-20 x (4-) 5-10 (12) mm, acute, slightly acuminate or obtuse with 3-12 (-18) mm long petiole, veins conspicuous. Cymes simple or 1-forked, up to 14 cm long. Flowers sessile, white. Calyx 2-2.5 mm long, partite about 1̸4 of its length, hairy outside, lobes obtuse, accrescent, persistent, enclosing the fruit and becoming pyriform. Corolla as long as the calyx or slightly longer, limb very short, rounded. Stamens inserted almost in the middle of corolla tube. Ovary glabrous, c. 2 mm long; style as long as stigma, inserted obliquely on the ovary; stigma conical, c. 0.5 mm long. Nutlets 1(-2) c. 3 mm long, plano-convex dark brown, obscurely tubercled.
