General Appearance
Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) Medik., it is an annual or biennial, green to brownish herb, erect to ascending, up to 10-30 (45) cm tall, sparsely hairy to almost glabrous, simple or branched from the base. Basal leaves pinnatifid (5-8-lobed) to almost entire, up to 8 x 2 cm. Cauline leaves smaller, sessile, ± auricled at base, denticulate to entire at margin. Sepals green or violaceous-brownish, c. 1.5 mm long. Petals white, or vaguely pinkish, (0-) 2-2.5 (-3) x 1 mm. Stamens c. 1.5-2 mm long. Siliculae obcordate-triangular, 5-9 x 4-8 mm, usually slightly emarginate, lateral margin straight to sub curved; style less than 0.5 mm long, (c. as long as the apical notch of fruit). Seeds 6-12 in each locule, oblong-ellipsoid, c. 1 mm long, brownish.
