General Appearance

Anchusa aegyptiaca (L.) A.DC., it is an erect, procumbent or ascending annual herb, up to 5·40 cm long, densely hispid with tubercle based hairs. Leaves oblong-lanceolate or linear to sub entire. Lower leaves petiolate, upper sessile to sub sessile 30-80 (-100) x (5-) 10-15 mm (including petiole). Cymes lax. Bracts leafy, up to 40 mm long. Flowers with 2-3 mm long pedicels, elongated and more or less recurved in fruit. Calyx 3-5 mm long, divided almost up to the base, lobes linear to narrowly ovate, up to7-8 mm in fruit. Corolla 8-10 mm long, yellow, tube 4-5 mm long, with limb of 3-5 mm in diameter, lobes slightly unequal; scales hairy, elongated, curved, ± exerted, Stamens inserted almost in the middle of the tube, arranged in 2 whorls of 2 and 3; anthers c. 1 mm long. Nutlets ovoid, erect, 4-5 x 2-3 mm, rugose to tuberculate.
