General Appearance

Helianthemum ledifolium (L.) Mill. // Infraspecifics: Helianthemum ledifolium ssp. ledifolium / Heterotypic Synonyms: Helianthemum ledifolium var. microcarpum (Boiss.) Willk. /// Immediate children: Helianthemum ledifolium var. ledifolium, it is an annual herbaceous species. Stems up to 15 cm tall, erect, usually simple or branched in the upper part. Leaves shortly petiolate, elliptic to oblanceolate, acute, with revolute margins. Stipules linear to lanceolate, usually longer than the petiole. Inflorescence scorpioid, lax. Sepals herbaceous, acuminate. Pedicels erect after anthesis, shorter than the sepals. Petals slightly shorter than the sepals, yellow, obovate to cuneate. Capsule approximately the size of the fruiting calyx, trigonous-ovoid, glabrous, except for the valve margins, which are ciliolate. Seeds 0.8–1 x 0.6–0.8 mm, highly variable in shape (pyriform, subtriangular, ovoid, etc.), pale beige. Surface sparsely covered with small, shiny, crystalline papillae.
