Cistus creticus L.

General Appearance

Cistus creticus L. / Infraspecifics: Cistus incanus ssp. creticus, it is a shrub, up to 100 cm tall, erect or spreading with stem and pedicels densely white-villous. Leaves usually (15-) 25-50 x 15-35 mm, ovate, obovate or elliptic, flat or almost so, pubescent or tomentose with stellate hairs; petiole 3-15 mm long. Cymes 1-7-flowered, terminal, ± symmetrical. Flowers 4-6 cm in diam., purplish-pink. Sepals 5, ovate-lanceolate, long acuminate, with short stellate hairs hidden by long simple hairs. Capsules densely adpressed-villous; style long, conspicuous, somewhat persistent; seeds small, blackish.
