General Appearance
Biserrula epiglottis (L.) Coulot, Rabaute & J.-M.Tison / Homotypic Synonyms: Astragalus epiglottis L., it is an annual herb, up to 5-25 cm, hairy-whitish, lying or ascending; leaves imparipinnate, with 4-7 pairs of lanceolate-oblong leaflets, stipules free, lanceolate-acuminate, flowers whitish or pale yellow, bluish, very small, erect, 6-10 in ovoid heads, tight, very briefly pedunculated, much shorter than the leaf, bell-shaped chalice, with awl-shaped teeth, almost equal to the tube. Pods trigonous-ovoid. with margins almost folded back. sub cordate in cross section. (5-) 7-9 ‘” 5 mm. pale-brown. appressed-hirsute, with a small, curved beak, 2-locular, 1-3 (-4)-seeded; seed reniform, flattened, c. 2.5 x 2 mm, pale-brown, smooth or sub rugose.
