General Appearance

Biserrula pelecinus L. / Homotypic Synonyms: Astragalus pelecinus (L.) Barneby ,  Syn. Astragalus pelecinus ssp. pelecinus it is an annual herb, up to 10-40 cm long, ascending or procumbent, sparingly branched, shortly pubescent or glabrous; stipules small, membranous, ovate to oblong. Leaves imparipinnate, 5-15 cm long; leaflets 6-15 pairs, linear-oblong to obovate-orbicular, 3-15 x (1-) 2-7 mm, emarginate. Racemes 3-10-flowered, ± terminal on peduncle, mostly shorter than subtending leaf. Bracts 1-3 mm, lanceolate, shorter than calyces and longer than pedicels, membranous; bracteole, absent. Flowers (4-) 5-8 mm long, blue or pale-yellow with blue tips. Calyx 3-4 mm, blackish with tube shorter than subulate teeth. Pods 20-50 x 4-6 (-8) mm, linear, flat-compressed, sinuate-dentate with denticulate lobes at margins, brownish, hairy or glabrous, with 2 rows of lenticular seeds.
