General Appearance
Astragalus taubertianus Asch. & Barbey ex E.A.Durand & Barratte it is an annual, biennial or herb up to 50 cm tall, with spreading white and black hairs. Branching from the base with prostrate or ascending Stems. Leaves (3-) 5-10(-15) cm long, with 8-12 pairs of leaflets, stipules ovate-oblong, acuminate, herbaceous, somewhat connate below, leaflets 4-12 mm long, obovate-oblong to oblong-elliptical, truncate to emarginate at apex, adpressed-villose, especially above, becoming sub glabrous or sparsely hairy below. Peduncles exceeding to somewhat shorter than subtending leaves, with (5-) 7-12 (-15)-flowered, dense spicate racemes. Flowers 15-20 mm long, white- to pale yellowish-purplish, sessile or sub sessile. Calyx c. 10 mm long, tubular, densely black and white, villose, teeth ± as long as tube, lanceolate, standard oblong-rhombic or ovoid-oblong, ± acuminate above. Pods ovoid-oblong, 15-20 (-30) x (5-) 8-12 mm, hispid-hairy, ± reticulately wrinkled or rugose. valves not or hardly separating at maturity, many seeded. Seeds globular, c 1 mm.
