General Appearance
Medicago disciformis DC., it is a small annual herb, up to 10-20 (-25) cm long, softly pubescent, usually covered with simple and glandular hairs, prostrate or ascending. Stipules broadly ovate-acuminate, 4-6 x 2-3.5 mm, usually sharply serrate at margin. Leaflets usually small, obovate to obcordate, apiculate 4-6 (-12) x 2-4 (-9) mm, sharply denticulate above, pilose on both surfaces. Peduncles 2-3 times longer than petiole, 1-2 (-3)-flowered. Flowers (4-) 5-6 (-7) mm long, yellow; pedicels 1-3 mm long. Calyx-teeth ± shorter than tube. Corolla less than twice as long as the calyx; standard longer than wings and keel. Pods discoid, 3-5 mm high, c. 6 (-8) mm in diam., in a lax spiral of usually 5 turns, glabrous when mature, size of coil decreasing at both ends; surface of coil apparently vein less (with many obscure, S-shaped radial veins entering into a vcin1css sub marginal border about half the radius of the coil); spines grooved, usually about half as long the diameter of the pod, erect or reflexed, often suppressed in the upper end of the coil. Seeds 1-2 in each coil oblong or reniform, c. 3.5 x 1.5 mm, pale-brown, smooth.
