General Appearance
Campanula monodiana Maire , it is a perennial herb, c. 6 cm tall . Stem unbranched or with short prostrate sparsely patent hairy branches. Leaves rosetted, obovate to obovate -oblong, up to 13 x 6 mm, sparsely appressed hairy to glabrous, attenuate-sessile at the base, sparsely dentate with stiff hairs on margins, obtuse. Flowers small, violet, solitary terminal, on erect, later deflexed, 6-9 mm long peduncles. Calyx tube broadly obconical, c. 2 mm long, lobes narrowly lanceolate, c. 3.5 mm long, hispid, acute, with triangular-lanceolate, c. 2 mm long, marginally patent hairy appendages. Corolla narrowly campanulate, 6-7 mm long, glabrous, lobed nearly to 1̸3, lobes oblong, acute, glabrous. Stamens equal, filaments as long as corolla, dilated towards the base, ciliate on margins, anthers linear-oblong, c. 2 mm long. Ovary 3-loculcd, with villous, ± exserted,3-lobed stigma. Capsule laterally 3-valved. Seed oblong-linear, less than 1 mm long, yellowish-brown.
