General Appearance

Neatostema apulum (L.) I.M.Johnst., it is an erect annual with solitary to many stems, up to 10-30 cm, with appressed setae. Leaves linear or oblong, linear, radical somewhat spathulate sessile, acute, 1-nerved, acute, 70 x 5 mm setose mainly on the margins. Cymes somewhat corymbose, dense in fruit. Bracts leafy. Calyx  3.5-4 mm long, lobes linear, acute, hispid outside, usually-with soft white hairs inside, accrescent in fruit. Corolla yellow, 6-6.5 mm long, tube almost equal or slightly exceeding than calyx, lobes of the limb, rounded, glandular-puberulent on both sides. Style very short, 0.25-0.5 mm long. Nutlets 1.5-1.75 (-2) mm long, tuberculate, contracted at the beak, usually flat on dorsal side, keeled on the ventral side.
