General Appearance

Moltkiopsis ciliata (Forssk.) I.M.Johnst. / Syn. Moltkia callosa (Vahl) Wettst., Lithospermum callosum Vahl, it is a small, woody shrublet, up to 10-20 (-40) cm tall, very strigose with appressed unequal setae, cancscent. Leaves linear to lanceolate, sessile, subamplexicaul with callous margins. 10-20 x 4-5 mm. Racemes short, spike-like, loose in fruit, Calyx  5-partite, elliptic, lanceolate. 4-5 x 1 mm with white spreading setae. Corolla 10-15 mm long, pink, throat naked, puberulent outside. Stamens unequal, 3 long, 2 short, included; anthers c. 1 mm long. Stigma capitate or ± bilobed, exserted or included. Nutlets 1-2. ovate-triangular, ± smooth or with 1-2 tubercles, brownish, flat on the dorsal side, keeled on the ventral side c. 2 mm long.
