General Appearance

Arnebia tinctoria Forssk. / Heterotypic Synonyms:  Arnebia tetrastigma Forssk,. it is a cinerscent annual herb, up to 4-15 (-20) cm tall with a branching stem at the base covered with long appressed tubercle-based hairs. Leaves oblong, lanceolate obtuse, tapering at base 30-40 (-50) x 3-5 (-6) mm. Raceme short, dense, one sided. Bracts linear oblong, longer than calyx. Calyx hirsute, lobes linear, 1 cm long, somewhat 3-nerved, accrescent in fruit. Corolla longer than the calyx, hairy outside, pale violet lobes rounded. Stamens included. Stigma 4-fid. Nutlets tuberculate glabrous, beaked, c. 1 mm long, brownish.
