General Appearance

Arnebia decumbens (Vent.) Coss. & Kralik / Homotypic Synonyms: Arnebia decumbens var. macrocalyx Coss.& Kral. // Infraspecific: Arnebia decumbens ssp. decumbens , Arnebia decumbens ssp. macrocalyx (Coss. & Kralik) Riedl, it is an annual herb, up to (5-) 10-15 (-30) cm tall, with spreading bulbous based hairs. Stem usually one or branched at the base. Lower leaves linear-oblong. Upper leaves linear-lanceolate, entire, 30-60 (-70) x 3-6 (7) mm, acute or obtuse. Bracts almost as long as calyx, c. 2 mm broad, elliptic or narrowly elliptic ovate. Pedicel very short. Calyx lobes linear-filiform-4-8 x 0.5-1.5 mm elongated in fruit up to 8-15 mm with indurated base, gibbous, crested at angles, connivent. Corolla yellow, 6-13 mm long with a hirsute tube; limb 2-1.5 mm in diameter, lobes rounded erect. Anthers c. 1 mm long. Style twice bifid, c. 6 mm long, stigma,4 capitate. Nutlets 4, ovate, 2-2.5 mm long, with an acuminate beak, verruculose.
