General Appearance

Otoglyphis pubescens (Desf.) Pomel / Homotypic Synonyms: Aaronsohnia pubescens (Desf.) K.Bremer & Humphries, Chamomilla pubescens (Desf.) Alavi., ̸      Synonym(s) Heterotypic: Aaronsohnia factorovskyi auct.,  ̸̸ Infraspecifics: Aaronsohnia pubescens ssp. pubescens,  it is an aromatic annual herb, up to (5-) 10-15 (-20) cm, erect or ascending, pubescent, branched.  Leaves pubescent, (5-) 10-22 x 3-5 mm, 1-2-pinnatifid, linear-oblong or linear oblanceolate in outline; ultimate segments flat, mucronate. Peduncles 2-6 cm, slender, somewhat flexuous. Capitula 3-20, 1 (-2) per branch, 4-10 mm in diam. Outer involucral bracts 2-3 x 1-1.5 mm, ovate, acute or obtuse, with white, scarious margin. Inner involucral bracts 4-5 x 2 mm, oblanceolate to broadly obovate, herbaceous, with a narrow brown margin and wide (c. 0.5-0.75 mm), scarious, white membrane. Marginal florets female, with corolla reduced, 1-1.5 mm, flattish, acute, not exceeding the style length. Central florets hermaphrodite, tubular; corolla c. 2 mm long, 5-lobed. Cypsela 1-1.5 mm (excl. pappus), pale straw coloured, lateral 2 ribs somewhat prominent; abaxial face somewhat convex, longitudinally striated; pappus whitish, auriculiform, scarious, adaxial in position, as long as or slightly shorter than the tubular corolla.
