General Appearance
Lotus rectus L. / Homotypic Synonyms: Dorycnium rectum (L.) Ser., it is a subshrub or shrub plant from 50 cm to 1 m. or more, pubescent at the top. The stems somewhat woody at the base, with numerous, spreading, angular branches. Leaflets broadly obovate in corners, glaucous below, hairy, sharp oval stipules, barely equal to the petiole. Flowers small, 20-40 in tight globose heads on peduncles twice as long as the leaf, pedicels equal to the bell-shaped calyx, with almost equal teeth. Corolla a third longer than the calyx, standard and wings of pinkish white, black-purple hull. Pods numerous, 1-2 cm long, linear-cylindrical, mucronate, with valves twisting into a spiral at maturity.
