General Appearance

Echium longifolium Delile, it is a hispid, pubescent, erect, annual herb, covered with long hairs. with slender root. Stems branched, with copious spreading bristles. Basal leaves very long up to 20 cm, tapering at base. Cauline leaves linear to lanceolate. Spike terminal or axillary, loose, elongated. Calyx lobes linear lanceolate, 5-8 mm long, white bristly. Corolla, bright blue or bright red, 16-24 mm long, funnel-shaped. Stamens shortly exerted. Nutlets tetragonal, conical, sparingly tubercled, echinate, 2-3 mm long.
