General Appearance

Cyperus michelianus (L.) Delile, it is an annual tufted herb. The stems are triangular, leafy only in the lower part, 2-25 cm long; the leaves are linear, 1–1.5 mm wide, grey-green. The inflorescence consists of a dense raceme of spikelets supported by 3-6 long leaf-like bracts. Spikelets are 3–4 mm long, dense, consisting of 10–20 flowers, chaffs are spirally arranged, about 2 mm long, yellowish, more or less obtuse at the apex, with a short point. Flowers bisexual, stamens mostly 2, scars 2. The fruit is a flattened achene about 2 mm long.
