General Appearance

Salicornia fruticosa (L.) L. / Homotypic Synonyms: Arthrocnemum fruticosum (L.) Moq., Sarcocornia fruticosa (L.) A.J.Scott, it is a succulent subshrub , tufted, richly branched plant 40-100 cm high, with a bushy ppearance. The stems are glabrous, grey-green, seemingly articulated, yellowish at the tips. The scaly, fleshy, opposite leaves are joined by the bases and tightly pressed to the plant. Very inconspicuous, 4-numbered and often fused flowers grow in the axils of the leaves. The gray seeds have short cone-shaped outgrowths.
