General Appearance
Pulicaria arabica (L.) Cass. / Heterotypic Synonyms: Pulicaria inuloides (Poir) DC., it is an annual herb, up to 50 cm tall, much branched, juvenile parts covered with fine, ± spreading hairs and gland, older parts glabrescent. Leaves linear-oblong or oblanceolate, 10-35 (-50) x 4-6 mm. acute, semi-amplexieaul, (the lower cauline leaves ± auriculate) at base, entire or sparsely minute toothed, hairy and glandular on both surfaces. Capitula solitary on axillary branch ends. Peduncle 10-25 mm. Involucre 5-7 (-10) mm broad. Involucral bracts 4-rowed, lanceolate, acuminate, pubescent with long, straight hairs and shortly stalked glands, spreading deflexed in fruit. Outer involucral bracts 2-3 mm long, herbaceous. Inner involucral bracts 4-5.5 (-6) nm long, scarious. Ray florets c. 12; corolla 3-4 (-6) mm (include. basal tube), not exceeding or nearly equalling the involucre. Disc floret corolla 3-4.5 mm, 5-lobed; lobes sharply acute, hairy and glandular. Cypsela oblong-ellipsoid, 1-1.5 mm long, sparsely pubescent, basal annular yellowish callus present; outer scales of pappus sharply acute, c. 0.25 mm long. coronate; inner setae c. 15,2.5-4 mm long, scabrid, early deciduous.
