General Appearance
Phagnalon graecum Boiss.&Heldr, it is a perennial, up to (15-) 30-60 cm, erect or ascending, white lanate, branched, very leafy plants. Lower cauline leaves 25-32 x 5-5.5 mm, narrowly spathulate-obovate, tapering into a long, narrow petiole, narrowly obtuse-mucronate, margins weakly sinuate-erose to undulate and sparsely minute toothed, revolute, lanate to sub glabrous above, densely, white lanate beneath. Upper cauline leaves (35-) 40-60 x 4-6 mm. oblanceolate, acute, margins & surfaces as in the lower cauline leaves. Peduncles (60-) 100-120 mm. terminal or axillary, slender, erect to erecto patent, whitish tomentose to glabrescent. Involucral bracts 6-rowed, similar to the preceding species but acute. Outer florets female, corolla 6.25·7 mm. filiform-tubular, 5-lobed; lobes 0.25 mm; pappus setae 5-6, up to 7.5 mm long, distal half scabrid. Central florets hermaphrodite, corolla 6.75 mm, tubular-campanulate, 5-lobed; lobes 0.75 mm; pappus setae 5-6, up to 7.5 mm long. Cypsela 1 mm.
