General Appearance

Nucularia perrinii Batt., it is a low shrub, up to 20-60 (-70) cm, woody, stem brownish, much branched, glabrous with usually opposite branches, villous at node or leaf axils. Leaves opposite, up to 10 x 4 mm, obtuse, trigonous-flcshy, greenish, sessile. semi-ampliexicaul or broad-based. Flowers c. 4 mm long, 5-lobed; stamens 5 as long as the perianth with, anthers about as long as the filament or shorter. Fruiting perianth accrescent. Fruit subglobose-deprcssed, included to the cupule formed by perianth; pericarp membranous-indurated. not adhering to seed; seed 2-3 mm in diam. with whitish membranous testa.
