General Appearance

Muscari parviflorum Desf., it is a bulbous geophyte, small herb. Bulb ovoid to ovoid-elongate, 1.5-2 cm in diam., tunics brownish membranous. Leaves 4-6 per plant, basal semi cylindrical, canaliculate, 8-15 cm. Scape 10-20 cm long, 5-15-flowered. Pedicels bracteate, c. 3 mm long, Bracts usually in pairs, membranous, ± linear, whitish, c. 1-2 mm long. Perianth ovate to urceolate, 3-4 mm long. constricted from top, bluish to blue-greenish, segments acute to obtuse, papillose at margin. Stamens biseriate, adnate at middle of perianth tube, filaments flattened, less than 1 mm long, Anthers dark violaceous, medifixed. as long as filaments. Ovary, sub globular, 3-loculale with 2 ovules in each locule. Style shorter than stamens, stigma capitate. Capsule coriaceous, triquetrate, with three seeds, one in each locule.
