Mantisalca duriaei (Spach) Briq. & Cavill., it is an annual herb, up to 20-50 (-15) cm, scabrid, appressed hairy to glabrescent, erect or ascending, much branched, slender. Basal leaves oblanceolate, tapered into a long petiole, sinuate-toothed. Cauline leaves lanceolate, sessile, sinuate-toothed, apex of the leaf and teeth whitish mucronate. Capitula solitary, in the middle of the basal leaves and at apices of the branches. Involucre 10 x 10 mm. ovoid. Involueral bracts coriaceous, ± glossy glabrous, greenish, ovate to linear-lanceolate, very narrowly scarious margined, acuto-mucronate, tips blackish or dark brown. Florets purplish; peripheral florets exserted and slightly spreading from the involucre. Cypsela dimorphic; peripheral epappose, with a ± basal hilum, central ones pappose, with lateral hilum; hilum carunculate; pappus as long as the cypsela.
