General Appearance

Leysera leyseroides (Desf.) Maire , it is an annual herb, up to 5-15 (-20) cm tall, branched, glandular-pubescent. Leaves 1-3 cm long, narrowly linear, sessile, margins recurved. Peduncles (3-) 5-6 cm. slender, filiform, erecto-patent, glabrescent. Involucre (6-) 8-9 (-11) mm long, turbinate. Bracts 5-6 rowed, glabrous. Outermost involucral bracts 2.25 x 1 mm. ovate, obtuse, slightly convex at the back. Involucral bract of 2nd row 3 x1.25 mm, oblong-ovate, acuminate, slightly convex at the back, nerve prominent, brownish. Involucral bract of 3rd row 4.5 x 1.5 mm, oblong, acuminate, rather flat. Involucral bract of 4th row 7.0 x 1.5 mm, oblong, acuminate, margins papery, rest of the body coriaceous. Involucral bract of 5th row 8 x 1.5 mm, similar to the bract of 4th row, subtending a female floret. Involucral bract of 6th row 9 x 1.25 mm, oblong, acute, margins very narrow. Ray florets 1 rowed, ovary 4-4.5 mm long, compressed. hairy, crowned with c. 25 mm long scales; corolla tube narrow, 2-2.25 mm long, hairy in the lower half, ligule 1.5-2.25 mm long, very narrow margins incurved. Disc florets; corolla 3-3.5 mm long, tube hairy in the lower half, widening in the upper half, 5-toothed; ovary 44.25 mm, compressed, hairy; pappus 2-rowed, outer row of narrow scales up to 0.5 mm, inner row of 5 setae,4-4.5 mm long, plumose in the upper half. Receptacular bracts or palea 0.75-1 mm long, ovate, brown.
