General Appearance
Hypochaeris radicata L., it is a robust perennial plant up to (10-) 20-60 (-100) cm, usually branched, sometime thickened immediately below the capitulum, glabrous or hispid. Leaves (20.)50-250x 10-40 mm, oblong or elliptic to oblanceolate, dentate to pinnatifid, sparsely to densely hispid or setulose-hispid. Cauline leaves 0.2. Capitula 20-30 (-40) mm wide, 15-25 mm long in fruit. Involucral bracts 25 x 2.5 mm, in several rows, glabrous or setose on the mid veins. Ligules bright yellow. Cypselas 8-17 mm. all with a distinct, long beak on the marginal ones shortly beaked or beakless (and up to 5 mm long), Pappus in 2 rows of setae; the outer3-6 mm, of scabrid or plumose setae; inner 9.5-12.5 mm, or plumose setae: setae not dilated at the base.
