General Appearance

Ferula communis L., it is a perennial plant of 1-2 meters, robust, glabrous, with a large stem; stem very thick, hollow, finely striated, with opposite or whorled upper branches; soft leaves, green on both sides, broken down into very narrow, filiform, elongated strips; the lower ones with a cylindrical petiole, the upper ones with a large membranous sheath; central umbel large, with 20-40 rays, the lateral ones long-pedunculated, extending beyond the central one; involucre and involucelle zero; reflexed styles, longer than the stylopodium; fruit oval or elliptical, rounded at both ends, tawny when ripe.
