General Appearance

Eryngium pusillum L. / Heterotypic Synonyms: Eryngium barrelieri Boiss., it is an annual or biennial herb, up to 5-20 cm, cheerful green, with truncated stem; stem erect. Few leaves, branched-dichotomous at the top; radical leaves oblong-lanceolate, attenuated into a long non-spiny winged petiole, all crenate or incised-toothed with spinescent teeth; white flowers, in numerous heads, tight, sessile, terminal and axillary; involucre with numerous, spreading, linear-acuminate leaflets, with 2 lateral spines; glitter equaling involucre; fruiting calyx with spreading teeth; ovoid-cylindrical fruit, covered with punctuated scales.
