Drimia purpurascens J.Jacq. / Heterotypic Synonyms: Drimia undata Stearn, Urginea undulata (Desf.) Steinh., it is a bulbous geophyte, bulb solitary, ovoid, 2-4 x 1.5-3 cm; tunics membranious, whitish to greyish. Leaves basal forming rosette, usually spreading on the ground, linear, with undulate margins, 10-25 x 0.5-1.5 cm. Scape 20-60 cm long, many-flowered; pedicels c. 1 cm long; bracts linear to linear-lanceolate, membranous, whitish in colour, 2-5 mm long. Perianth stellate; tepals linear to spatulate, c. 5 x 3 mm, ± obtuse, pinkish to green-rosaceous. Stamens equalling to slightly shorter than tepaIs; filaments filiform, white-rosaceous in colour. Anthers yellowish to rosaceous, 1-3 mm long. Ovary triangular-ovoid, yellow-greenish; style equalling to longer than stamens. Capsule ovoid-triquetrous, 0.5-1 cm long. Seeds flattened, obovoid–oblong, black, 3-4 in each locule.
