General Appearance

Deverra tortuosa (Desf.) DC / Homotypic Synonyms:  Pituranthos tortuosus (Desf.) Benth. & Hook.f. ex Asch. & Schweinf., it is an aromatic, shrubby perennial, up to 60cm tall, creel glabrous, dichotomously and usually divaricately branched; stems striate, bluish-green or whitish or ± glaucous, apparently leafless. Leaves usually caducous; basal 3-10 cm, 2-pinnalisect in to stiff and divergent, short, oblong to linear-subulate, acute lobes; sheating petiole short, broad, broadly scarious, margined; lower cauline leaves similar but reduced to sheaths with filiform-subulate apices. Umbels compound, mainly terminal, long-peduncled; umbellules 6-10, almost equal, 1-2 cm long; bracts and bracteoles persistent, oblong obovate, searious margined. Flowers semi closed. Petals puberulent to glabrous along the green nerve at the back; styles longer than the slylopodium. Fruit 1-1.5 mm, usually shorter than the pedicels, ovoid to almost globular, usually hirtellous-whitish.
