General Appearance

Daucus pumilus (L.) Hoffmanns. & Link / Homotypic Synonyms: Pseudorlaya pumila (L.) Grande, it is an annual herb, densely hairy, branched from the base, procumbent stems. Leaves mostly basal, petiolate, pinnatisect, up to 12 cm long. Umbels provided with linear bracts and very short rays at anthesis, then elongated and unequal during fruiting. Small flowers, with white, pink or somewhat purple petals, acuminate and curved. Ellipsoidal fruit. Mericarps up to 10.6 x 11.5 mm, straw-colored and elliptical in outline; primary ribs filiform, ciliate; secondary ribs prolonged in 1-3 rows, more or less defined, of straight spines with glochidiated apex, those of the lateral ribs very widened towards the base. Flat seeds located on the ventral side.
