General Appearance
Crupina crupinastrum (Moris) Vis., it is an annual herb, similar to the Crupina vulgaris Pers. ex Cass., but stem leafy only in lower 1̸3 or 1̸2, lobes of the leaves distinctly serrate. basal leaves after broadly pinnatifid and their rachis lanate above. Involucre 15-20 x 5-10 mm at the time of anthesis and 14-20 x10-23 mm in fruiting. Capitula 9-15 flowered, Florets red or purplish. Corolla tube bearing smooth-walled, unbranched hairs. Cypsela usually compressed, sharply keeled below with a narrow, elliptic, lateral hilum, setae of the pappus up to 10 mm long.
