General Appearance
Cichorium pumilum Jacq., it is an annual herb, with a stem 5–50 cm long, prostrate to straight. The leaves are lanceolate to elliptical, toothed at the edge, hairy. The peduncle of the cap is distinctly thickened at the top, the involucre is cylindrical. Involucre bracts in 2 rows, the outer ones are straight or slightly curved at the top, almost as long as the inner involucre bracts, 10–12.5 mm long and 2–3 mm wide; there are more than 6 ligulate flowers, the ligules are 9–14 mm long and 3–4 mm wide, blue, rarely perhaps even white. The fruit is an achene with short fluff, about 6 times shorter than the achene.
