General Appearance

Bupleurum trichopodum Boiss. & Spruner, it is an annual herb, erect, up t0 40(-50) cm tall, glabrous, dichotomously branched with ± terete or inconspicuously sulcate stem. Leaves linear or linear-oblanceolate to ± spalbulate, 10-60 (-80) x 1.5-6 mm, shortly acuminate or obtuse, narrowed at the base. lower petiolate. upper occasionally subulate, sessile, sub cordate and amplexicaul at base. Umbels (2-)3-6(-1)-rayed, on terminal and antiphyllous, 8-40 mm long, filifonn peduncles; rays sub equal, slender, 6-50 mm long, spreading. Bracts 1-3, rarely absent, linear-subulate to lanceolate, (3-) 5-15 (-20) x c. 1.5 mm, obscurely 1-3-nervedd, cuspidate at tips; bracteoles usually 2-3. Umbellulcs (1-) 2-3 (-5)-flowered. Pedicels 1-2 mm long. Petals broadly oblong, c. 0.5 mm long and broad, with an inflexed emarginate tip, yellowish. Styles strongly reflexed. Fruit oblong-prismatic to ± rounded, 2.5-3 x 1.5 mm, dark brown; meriearps smooth or faintly rugulose. with 5 filiform ribs.
