General Appearance
Biarum bovei Blume, it is a geophyte, green cormous herb, up to 30 cm tall; corm sub globular 4-6 cm in diam., rooting from top. Leaves small entire, 5-10 in number, appearing after flowers; blade elliptic-ovate 6-7 x 2.5 cm, equaling to slightly longer than spathe. Scapes 3.5-7 cm long, carrying ± tubular spathe 5-11 cm long, bottom with margins joined together c. 1/4 of the spathe length, spathe usually green outside and brownish inside. Spadix more or less equaling to slightly longer than spathe. Female flowers below, ovaries oblong, unilocular with very short style and capitate stigma. Male flowers usually above and separated from females by sterile zone. Fruit berries; seed obovate.
