General Appearance
Asphodelus ramosus L. // Infraspecifics: Asphodelus ramosus ssp. ramosus / Heterotypic Synonyms: Asphodelus microcarpus Viv, Asphodelus microcarpus var. nervosus (Pomel) Maire Asphodelus ramosus var. nervosus (Pomel) Z.Díaz & Valdés, it is a tuberous geophyte, perennial plant 1 m to 1.50 m tall, glabrous, with a fasciculate-tuberculate root; robust stem, solid, branched at the top. Leaves 20-40 mm wide, triquetrate in a groove, stiff, glaucous, inserted spirally. Flowers white or fleshy, rather small, in dense clusters; bracts very pale tawny. Perianth 14-16 mm long, with green keels; filaments lanceolate, widened at the base. Fruit small (6-7 mm long), elliptical, slightly narrowed at the base. Capsule with grayish, thin, elliptical valves, truncate at the apex, with flat edges, with 5-7 fine transverse veins.
