Asphodelus fistulosus L.
General Appearance
Asphodelus fistulosus L., it is a rhizomatous geophyte, up to 20-60 cm tall, glabrous, with long and thin root fibers; hollow stem, simple dichotomous at the top. Leaves narrow (1-3 mm), semi-cylindrical, somewhat hollow, glaucous, spirally inserted at the base. Flowers, small white or flesh-colored in loose clusters; whitish bracts. Perianth 8-12 mm long, with green or purplish keels; spindle-shaped filaments, lanceolate at the base; trifid style; small (4-6 mm long), sub globose. Fruit; capsule with truncate-emarginate valves at the apex, with flat edges, with 2-3 transverse ridges.
