General Appearance

Arum cyrenaicum Hruby, هt is a tuberous geophyte, perennial herb, green, erect up to 50 cm tall; corm sub globose c. 2-3 cm in diameter rooting from the lop; leaves 2-3, sagittate-hastate, blade, green, shining, entire, 11-30 x 5-14 cm, reticulately veined; petioles 18-31 cm long, sheathing most of the scape when young; scape 19-35 cm long; spathe 17·23 x 4-6 cm long. ± funnel shaped, constricted below the middle, triangular-ovate above with apiculate tip, outside green tinged with purple on the margins and dark purple inside. Spadix 7-12 cm long, male flowers yellow, above the female and separated from it by a free zone, staminodes usually present, ovary ovoid unicarpellate with many ovules, placenta lateral. Stigma sessile. Berries sub globular, red in colour when mature.
