General Appearance

Artemisia campestris L., it is a perennial plant 30-80 cm tall, almost woody and prostrate at the base, ascending, glabrous in the adult state, very branched, with spreading branches, not sticky. Cauline leaves bipinnatisect, those of young stems silvery, silky, the lower ones petiolate, the following ones sessile, with very narrow, linear, mucronulate segments. Capilula oblong, ovoid or globose, shortly pedunculate, erect, erecto-patent or recurved. Involucre 1.5-3.5 (-6) mm long, glabrous or hairy. Outer involucral bracts oval, ± entirely herbaceous. Inner involucral bracts oblong, broadly scarious margined. Receptacle glabrous. Florets 8 or more, yellowish or reddish, peripheral florets 3.4 (-5), female, filiform; inner florets functionally male, tubular.
