General Appearance

Anvillea garcinii (Burm.f.) DC., it is a subshrub woody, up to c. (30-) 50-60 cm tall. dichotomously branched, hoary or glabrescent. Leaves (9-) 12-20 (-25) x 2-4 (-6) mm, obovate or oblongo-cuneate, base attenuate into a narrow petiole, pinnati-toothed to pinnatifid, densely hairy; hairs adpressed. Capitula 25-30 mm (including ray floret) or 10-13 (·15) mm (when ray florets absent) in diameter, yellow or golden yellow. Receptacle cup-like; involucre 15-20 mm long; basal parts of involucral bracts fused and closely invested round the receptacle; free parts of the 3 outer rows of the involucraI bracts (10) 13-15 (.20) mm, erecto-patent, herbaceo-foliaceous, obovate-spathulate, pinnatilobed; free parts of the inner rows of involucral bracts (6-) 8-10 mm, ovate-oblong, acute. Palea 5.5-6 mm (exclude, terminal appendage) coriaceous, boat-like basal part closely investing the floret, midnerve strongly keeled at the back, apex drawn into a long (4.5-5 mm), narrowly lanceolate, setaceous appendage. Ray florets (when present) neutral, 13-15 x 3.25 mm, narrowly lanceolate, 2-loothed; ovary 1.75 mm, 3-gonous, adaxial face flattened, margins near the apex with few glandular hairs style and stigma absent. Disc florets hermaphrodite; corolla 6.5-7 5 mm, tubular; tube gradually widening upwards, 5-lobed; lobes 0.25-0.5 mm, ovate, acute; ovary 1.5-2.0 mm, 5-angled, many ribbed, angles hairy, hairs glandular; pappus absent.
