General Appearance

Anacyclus valentinus L., it is an annual herb, similar to Anacyclus clavatus (Desf.) Pers., from which it differs by its smaller capitula (up to 1cm in diam.), sub discoid. Ray florets yellow, erect, not exceeding the involucre. Involucral bracts very hairy, without conspicuous, scanous margins. Palea ovate-oblanceolate with narrowly triangular mucronate apex. Cypsela of the marginal disc florets broadly winged; the wings with rounded, divaricate lobes at top, not projecting beyond the apex of the cypsela. Cypsela of the central disc florets always narrowly winged.
