General Appearance

Helianthemum hirtum (L.) Mill., it is a small, caespitose shrub, up to 10-20 (-30) cm tall, much branched from the base, usually erect, rigid, with dense appressed hairs on the branch and leaves and long, ciliate hairs on the calyx. somewhat yellowish in the flowering parts; Leaves elliptic to oblong-elliptic; lower leaves often suborbicular, (3-) 5-15 (-20) x 4-8 mm, sub sessile to shortly petiolate (petiole up to 4 mm long), stipulate, sub revolute at the margins; stipules linear, about as long as the petiole. Flowers yellow or yellowish, in dense, 1-3, terminal, sub corymbose branches, c. 1 (-1.5) cm, in diameter, pedicellate; pedicels shorter or absent as long as the calyx, spreading-ascending to recurved, not thickened. Calyx densely hispid, 3-4 (-5) mm long, outer sepals linear, about half as long as the inner, ovate-acute, sub-membranous, 3-veincd sepals. Capsules small, hirsute, included within the calyx.
