General Appearance

Capparis spinosa L., it is a prostrate to almost erect shrubs. usually prominently hairy on the younger parts and with prominant spiny stipules. Leaves very variable, ± thin texture, usually ovate or elliptic, 1-4 x 1-3.5 cm, apex often spine-tipped. Flowers axillary, solitary, 2-5 cm across, usually white. Sepals, 1-2 cm long, posterior almost equal to the others or slightly larger. Fruits 1.5-4.5 x 1-1.5 (-1.8) cm on 3-7 cm Iong gynophores. many seeded.
